No QB Controversy Here

Vick in, Kolb out even though he's healthy. Gotta say I'm a little surprised based on everything Reid has said before. This is your guy and he's done after less than a half of football? Seems a bit quick to me.

The flip side is that Vick has been playing well. He's got his burst back. Nice touch on deep balls (i.e. hitting DeSean in stride for his TD). Picking up positive yards when the pocket disintegrates.

I think the more interesting thing is the timing of this announcement. Any other team would've given you the "we'll make a decision by game time", while Reid comes out and says he's making the switch on Tuesday. I guess JAC was going to prepare for Vick anyway s

I think this decision also shows Reid's flexibility. I'm not sure how many other coaches would have made this decision this quickly. Kolb's the QB of the future, Vick's only signed through this year. I think a lot of other head coaches would've stuck with Kolb for a loss or 2 before making the change. Nice to see quick decision here. This shows the team that it's all about the Ws and not about any agendas. This probably does more for team chemistry than anything else.

Now let's see them get another win.

I just don't understand what Kolb did to get punished like this. How do you trade your franchise QB with a theoretical better QB in the wings, give him 1/2 of a real game, then bench him for a PR nightmare. Vick played well, but what is the upside? They're 6-10 with Kolb and 8-8 with Vick. They're not a Superbowl team either way.

And of course McMope has to weigh in from DC and pop a cheapshot at the Birds...as if the organization did anything but kiss his ass for 11 years.

My only rationale is that Reid realizes how bad of an O line he has assembled and he knows the only chance for a QB to survive is if he can run like a deer to avoid a constant rush. No other explanation for this move.

Reid (and me) think maybe this is a 9-7 team with Kolb and 11-5 with Vick. If Vick's the better chance at the play-offs, then why wouldn't you make the move?

I've never understood why the QB position is coddled so much. You never have these questions on any of the other 21 starting positions. If the back-up's better, start him. Why should the QB position be any different? Timing and continuity and whatever is nice, but if the back-up gives you a better chance to win you've got to make that move. It's all about the Ws. Nothing else matters.

You have a great source for weed if you think this is an 11-5 team, but that's what makes rooting for sports interesting.

It's not about coddling Kolb, it's about developing him into what you think he is-the future of the team. You cannot do that from the bench. In addition, you never allowed a QB competition and proclaimed the guy your starter just days ago. Sorry, this makes no sense.

And everyone is high on Vick after he scored points against a Green Bay team who never prepared for him and played prevent and he played well vs. a traditional dog of the league in Detroit. Let's see how he fares against better teams. The divisional games and those AFC South games will tell a lot. If he looks like he did in the pre season, which by the way was terrible with bad decisions while scrambling and many many turnovers, do you go back to Kolb?

Sorry, but Kolb did nothing to warrant losing his job. To me, this should hopefully be the beginning of the end for Reid as he has assembled a sub par team talent wise (at least the two core areas of O line and D line) and now he is flip flopping on his own words in the span of 2 days. He looks like a guy whose time has passed and the pressure is getting to him.

Just one guy's opinion.

Certainly not the move I expected. Though Kolb would get a chance to show a little more before Andy made a decision, but I guess not. I had the same thought as Bumble (imagine that !!). This o-line is so bad, that an immobile QB like Kold gets killed, so put a guy with some escapeability back there for Kolb's own good. An interesting theory was floated by hugh Douglas on 610 today. Yes, I knoe he's a blowhard, but he claims Kolb took a big whack against KC last year, and hasn't been the same since. First I've heard of it....truth ?? BS Gentlemen ?

If the business is viable were it not for the debts or the pressure from the creditors then there is a great chance of the business being sold off as a pre-pack subject to terms and conditions which you will be advised.
